Calvin Booker
Calvin Booker is a Tap Dance Artist and DJ. A native of Brooklyn, N.Y, he began dancing at the age of 4 and performing professionally at age 7. He is a graduate of LaGuardia HS of the Arts and attended the conservatory @ SUNY Purchase University. He is an original member of ‘Creative Outlet: Dance Theater of Brooklyn’ as well as The Young Hoofers’, a Tap dance group. With these groups, Calvin has performed all over NYC at theaters including ‘The Apollo Theater’, ‘Lincoln Center’, ‘Symphony Space’ to name a few. Internationally, Calvin has travelled both to DJ and to teach Tap Dance in Russia, Italy, London, and St. Maarten,W.I. He is also a member of NYC’s Arts-in-Education and The Brooklyn Arts Council, performing for children’s audiences. He was also was an original member in the Broadway hit, ‘FELA’, directed by Bill T. Jones. Calvin is happy to be working with Global Dance NYC !

Therese’ Miyoshi Wendler
Ms. Wendler was born in Honolulu Hawaii. Therese received her ballet training from Nina Marlow in Phoenix, AZ. The Joffrey Ballet Program brought her to New York City. Since then she has worked with Ballet Metropolitan of Caracas in Venezuela, Ballet International under the direction of Eldar Aliev, Ballet Concierto of Puerto Rico, Ballet Jorgen Canada in Toronto, Thomas/Ortiz in NYC and as Principal dancer with Connecticut Ballet, Covenant Ballet, Dances Patrelle and Rebecca Kelly Ballet. She has been intensely coached by Elena Kunikova, Diana Cartier, and Irina Koplakova. Therese has taught for the Ailey Summer Intensive, Joffrey Summer program for Character and International Dance under the direction of Larisa Calero and as a guest teacher for the Jessica Lang Dance Company. Therese is currently teaching at the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater in the Ballet Junior Division Department, The Ailey Extension, Rioult Dance Center and is the Department Chair of Ballet at the Rivertown Dance Academy in Tarrytown, NY.

Moglii
Dorren "Moglii" Smith is an indigenous -american dancer born in Bronx, New York. Dorren has had many opportunities to experience modes of movement which include salsa, hip hop, breaking, house, ballet, modern, and contemporary dance. Dorren received professional dance training at the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase where his performance experience includes works by Bill T. Jones, Paul Taylor, and Crystal Pite. After graduation, Dorren Moglii performed and toured internationally in the ILuminate show from 2013 to the present and also appeared with the cast on America’s Got Talent. Grace, rhythm, integrity, and pure inspiration are the fueling elements for Dorren’s passion for dance. He now blends each style into an awareness of unrestricted movement in the present through the nature of the body. Dorren has taught workshops and classes throughout the U.S.A and abroad in places which include Prague, Switzerland, and Berlin where he enjoyed sharing his understanding of freedom of movement.

Yvonne Gutierrez
Yvonne Gutierrez of Cuban descent is a master Spanish/Flamenco instructor at Joffrey Ballet school, Ballet Hispanico teaching in the Pre-Professional & Professional Studies programs as well as Los Encuentros (a general studies program). She holds a BS in Applied Computer Science from Pace University and is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA). This newly created Professional Studies program already has seen Yvonne’s students performing at the Hispanic Day Parade, Ballet Hispanico Gala, Bravo Channel and City Hall for Hispanico Heritage.
Ms. Gutierrez past experiences also includes numerous performances with Flamenco Latino Dance Company, a Latin Brazilian Jazz Band called Stringbeans under the direction of Annette Aguilar, Luis Montero Dance Company and various local Opera Companies.

Tatyana Popova
Tatyana Popova comes from the multicultural city Almaty, the capital of Kazakhstan, located in the heart of Central Asia. Tatyana is a bachelor degree holder from tree different universities of dance, for each discipline in country of its origin . Since taking her first dance steps at age of six, she has continued her trajectory across the world, taking part in different companies and training in prestigious dance academies including the J. Elebekov Music and Dance Academy in Almaty, Kazakhstan, where she strove to perfect her interpretations of Russian and Central Asian character dances & ballet. Her passion for dance led her to train in the fascinating and exotic style of Indian classical dance, known as Bharatanatyam.
When Tatyana completed her studies at the Kalakshetra School of Dance, she next travelled to Sevilla, Spain, to enroll in the Matilde Coral School of Dance to train in Spanish dance and Flamenco; she also studied at the Manuel Betanzo Flamenco Academy. Through her career, Tatyana has been invited by numerous dance companies to perform with them and has been a part of national and international productions. Tatyana choreographed, produced and toured with theatrical dance production “Journey across the Globe” in Spain.

About our founder and Artistic Director Larisa Calero

Born and raised in Moscow Russia, Larisa Calero is a former principal dancer with the Moisseyev Dance Company. While performing with the Company , she got her Masters Degree in Choreography from RATI – Russian Academy of Theatrical Art (former GITIS). After almost ten years performing with the Moisseyev Dance Company and around the world, Larisa found new home in New York City.
Her dance resume includes : dancer/choreographer at New York City Opera; dancer/dance capitan at Michael Jackson Tribute at Madison Square Garden 2001,P Diddy tour 2002and more.
Teaching is Larisa's second passion. She emphasizes the performing side of dance and delivering the story. After teaching in NYC for over 10 years at school such as Joffrey Ballet school, Gelsey Kirkland Academy, ABT JKO and others, Larisa is now a founder and an Artistic Director at Global Dance NYC.
